About the role

As part of our strategic vision, we are undergoing a comprehensive technology transformation journey. We have an exciting opportunity for an Software Release Manager to join our Digital Business team at Craigs Investment Partners (CIP). This is a 12-month fixed term (full-time) role based in Tauranga.

 As the Software Release Manager for our transformation programme, you will play a central role in managing the route to production for all software changes in the scope of the transformation program. Reporting to the Programme Director, you will be responsible for the movement of the changes between the development, Testing other non-Production environments. This will include planning and running code merges with the BAU development branch to ensure our project environments remain in alignment with the production systems though the build and test phases. 

You will also be required to:

  • Plan the scope, requirements, and timeline for each code release. Which will include collaboration with the development and architecture team to understand the dependencies across the application ecosystem to ensure dependencies are deployed in the same release.
  • Build automation deployment pipelines where appropriate to reduce maximise the efficiency of deploying changes through the environments.
  • Govern the process by defining quality gates and thresholds for promoting code to the next environment. 
  • Monitor the deployment to ensure there are no impacts that have been reported after each deployment and remediate any issues. 
  • Communicate and Collaborate with the relevant stakeholders ensuring the cross functional down-stream risks are identified and these are communicated prior to the deployment with an update following deployments to provide a status update. 

About you

You will be comfortable making the decision on whether or not a release is ready to move between environments. To succeed in this role and have confidence in the decisions and governance you will be putting in place, you will need the following skills:

  • Technical knowledge of software development and IT deployment
  • Knowledge of DevOps and continuous integration and development (CI/CD) tools
  • Experience with agile methodologies
  • Clear communication skills
  • A collaborative and inclusive approach

You must be able to adapt to the changing demands of the role, adjusting your approach as needed to the complexities of the different environments in which we operate. Strong industry knowledge of Financial Services is an advantage but not essential.
